Football Rules

1. GENERAL RULES

1.1. Singles

All bets, including to Qualify will be settled on the Initial official tournament result as adjudicated by the tournament organiser or official organisational body.  Subsequent changes, disqualifications and/or appeals will not affect settlement of bets

1.2. 90 Minutes Play

All Football match bets apply to full 90 minutes play unless otherwise stated on our website (also referred to as normal time and full time).  This includes injury time or stoppage time but not extra-time or penalty shoot-outs.  This includes all markets such as first goal scorer, number of corners, number of goals etc

An exception to this rule relates to certain age-group (E.g. U-20, U-18, U-17, U-16 etc) and friendly matches only, where match markets will be settled based on the actual result when the game finishes including injury time and stoppage time but not extra-time or golden goal or penalty shoot-outs.

If any match is not scheduled to be played for at least 80 minutes, or for anything other than two halves, then all bets on that match will be void

Note: Some matches play 80 minutes, but will still appear as 90 minutes on the website.  These matches will be settled according to the full-time result as long as a minimum of 80 minutes is played and the match is not scheduled for anything other than two halves.

1.2.1 Half Betting

1.2.2 First Half betting applies to the first 45 minutes of the match (including any injury time) only. Any goals scored after this period do not count toward this market.
1.2.3 Second Half betting applies to the second 45 minutes of the match (including any injury time) only. Any goals scored in the first half do not count towards this market - i.e. the scores start at level for this market. Extra time does not count towards this market.

1.3.  Extra Time betting

Extra time includes period of play between the end of normal time (i.e. 90 minutes play plus any time added on for stoppages) and the end of the game.
Extra time does not include penalty shoot outs.   All extra time betting markets, such as 'correct score', or 'time of first goal', will start from the beginning of extra time and does not include normal time. For example, if the game finishes 2-2 at the end of normal time and there are no goals scored in extra time, the 'extra time correct score' market will be settled as '0-0'.

1.4. Extra Time In-Play

Extra time In-Play Markets are settled on the official statistics for the extra time period.  Any goals or corners that were taken or scored during regulation time do not count.

1.5. To Qualify Betting

In certain tournaments we may offer odds for a team to progress to the next round, and it is the customer’s responsibility to ensure that the correct option is chosen before submitting a wager.

1.6. Abandoned Matches

Should a match be abandoned at ANY time before the final whistle then all bets will be void, unless a definitive result for the market has already been determined prior to abandonment. These will be settled according to the official result, for example, first Goalscorer, half-time betting, time of first Goal. If however the relevant Governing Football Body have indicated the match will be completed the following day remaining bets will stand.

1.6.1 Change of Venue

If a match venue is changed prior to kick-off all bets placed based on the original listing will be void. If the home and away team for a listed match are reversed (e.g. match is played at the original away team's ground) then bets placed based on the original listing will be void. However this will not apply in Scottish Non-League games (Highland, Lowland, East Region, West Region, North Region and Scottish Junior Cup), all bets in these games will be settled on the final result regardless of a venue change.

1.7. Postponed Matches

Bets placed on postponed matches will be void. A short time delay for any reason is not considered a postponement.

1.8. Time Of Bets

1.8.1. Bets on time of first goal, time of last goal, goalscorer plus, time of first corner, time of first booking and interval bets will be settled at the time shown by the major UK TV station broadcasting the match.
1.8.2. For the 'Time of first Corner' market, the time that the corner is taken will count.
1.8.3. For the 'Time of the first booking market', the time that the player is shown the card will count.
1.8.4. As soon as a game kicks off it will be deemed to be in the first minute.  For example a goal scored after 25 minutes and 42 seconds will be settled as scored in the 26th minute.
1.8.5. An own goal will count for time of first or last Team Goal.
1.8.6. If a match is abandoned before the first goal is scored, first corner is taken, first booking etc. then all bets accepted for time bands that have completed will be considered losing bets and any other time band which includes the time band of the abandonment will be void and treated as a non-runner.
1.8.7. In the event of a dispute, the decision of the Official Competition Website will be final. If the match is not covered by British TV, the verdict of the majority of the following websites will be final, unless the exact timings can be provided by BetVictor.

Note: Live updates including Current Score, Total Bookings and Total Corners on Betting In-Running markets are for information only. Whilst we will make every effort to ensure this information is correct, it is your responsibility to check that any facts on which bets are struck are accurate.

1.9. Fifteen Minute Events

Events must happen between 00:00 and 14:59 to be classed in the first 15 minutes, for example, a corner awarded in this period but only taken after 15:00 will not count.

1.10. Fifteen minute events in-play

Bets are settled on the number of events occurring in the specified 15-minute time period. Time periods 30 minutes to half time will close at half time including any time added on for stoppages.  The time period and 75 minutes to full-time include any added time until full time is complete.
Events only count within the period they are taken - not awarded.  In case of abandonment any bets on uncompleted time periods will be made void unless settlement of bets has already determined prior to abandonment.  Note that for the free-kicks market a penalty does not count as a free-kick.  Corners, throw-ins, goal-kicks and free-kicks that have to be re-taken only count as 1. Foul throw-ins do not count.

1.11. Other limited time period events

When time periods differ from the 15 minute allocation the same rules will apply within the designated time period stated. For Minute to Win it, please see rule 12.

1.12. Injury Time

Bets on the amount of injury time are settled on the time indicated by the fourth official’s board, rather than the actual time played

1.13. Ante-Post bets

League winners will be determined by the official rules of their respective leagues. Therefore if a play-off or any other process is used to determine the league winner this will count.

In divisional betting, with the exception of the league winners involved in a playoff, the finishing positions of teams at the end of the scheduled programme of matches will determine placings.

No allowance will be made for promotion/relegation playoffs or subsequent enquiries by the respective leagues.

1.14. Football Fixed Spreads

1.14.1. All make-ups are taken from what happens during a full 90 minutes unless otherwise stated on our website.  Extra-time, golden goal or penalty shoot-outs are excluded.
1.14.2. If a match is abandoned all bets are void, unless a definitive result for that market has already been determined prior to abandonment, for example, the OVER limit has already been reached.
1.14.3. Only players taking part in the match will be taken into account for betting purposes.
1.14.4. Own goals count in all Fixed Spread markets.

1.15. Football ‘Dead Heat’

A ‘Dead Heat' occurs when two or more selections in an event tie.  If a “dead-heat” between two selections is declared on any event, half the stake is applied to the selection at full odds and the other half is lost.  If more than two “dead-heats” are declared, the stake is proportioned between the remaining selections.

2. GOALSCORER BETS

2.1. Scorecasts
This bet involves predicting which player will score the first goal and what the correct score will be at full time.
2.1.1. If your selected player comes on after the first goal has been scored, or does not take part at all, your bet will be voided.
2.1.2. Own Goals do not count.
2.1.3. If a match is abandoned whether or not a goal has been scored, all bets are void.

2.2. First, Last , or Anytime Goalscorer, and Goalscorer Plus

2.2.1. Every effort will be made to quote prices for all participants, however other players will count as winners should they score the first, last or anytime goal;
2.2.2. Bets on players taking no part in the match will be void, as will first Goalscorer bets where the selection comes on after the first goal has been scored; if the selection plays for any length of time but is substituted or sent off before the first goal is scored, the bet stands. Goalscorer plus bets stand if the player is in on the pitch and has the opportunity to score a goal in any part of the relevant time period, if the player is not on the pitch at any time within the stated period then bets will be made void.
2.2.3. All players who take part in a match for any length of time, will be considered runners for last or anytime Goalscorer purposes;
2.2.4. In the event of a dispute over the award of a goal for first, last or anytime Goalscorer for betting purposes, settlement will be based on the scorer as reported by the Official Competition Website. A dispute is when the correct goal scorer is in contention and not an error by the match commentator or official website, in these cases the bet will be settled according to the true goal scorer;
2.2.5. Bets are accepted on 90 minutes play only;
2.2.6. Any subsequent corrections or amendments to the result by official bodies will not be considered for settlement purposes.
2.2.7 Own goals do not count in the settlement of bets.

2.3. In-Play Next Goalscorer

2.3.1. Bets are settled on the basis of players reported by the Official Competition Website in attendance at the match.
2.3.2. Players not originally quoted will count as winners should they score the next goal.
2.3.3. Bets on players not taking part in the match will be void as will bets on 'first player to score' where the selection comes on after the first goal is scored.
2.3.4. Own goals do not count in the settlement of bets. In the event of a specified goalscorer bet being placed in running, and the next goal is an own goal, bets will be settled on the following goalscorer as the winning selection, if no further goals are scored by a named player then no goalscorer will be the winning selection.
2.3.5. All players that have been on the field of play before the next goal is scored will be deemed runners.
2.3.6. Subsequent enquiries by official bodies will not be considered for settlement purposes.
2.3.7. If the Official Competition Websites do not produce statistics giving the names of players scoring in matches played outside the UK, settlement will be based on information obtained from the national newspapers of the relevant country.

2.4. Player to Score Two or More Goals

2.5. Player to Score a Hat-Trick

Will your selected player score three or more goals in the match? All players taking part at any point of the match are deemed to have played for settlement purposes.  Own goals do not qualify in this market and will be disregarded.

2.7. Goal Scorer Match Bets

If there is a match bet for two players in the same game; both players must start the match for bets to stand.  If either player fails to start, all bets are void.   For example, who will score the most goals in a match, Michael Owen or Fernando Torres?  Own goals do not qualify in this market and will be disregarded.

2.7.1 Team v Player Match Bet.

If the named player fails to start, all bets are void. Own goals count for team but will be disregarded for the named player in the match bet.

3.1 Assisted Goals

3.1.1 Assists are awarded to the player from the goal scoring team who makes the last touch to the goalscorer.

3.1.2 In the event of a penalty or free kick, the player earning the penalty or free kick gets an assist if a goal is directly scored. However, you cannot assist your own goal.

3.1.3 For any assists disputes, bets will be based on the decision of the Press Association (PA) immediately after the match is finished.

3.1.4 Unlike First Goalscorer betting, own goals DO count in Assist Betting.

3.2 Unassisted Goals

3.2.1 Winner of the First Assist market will be the player who is deemed to have assisted the 1st goal of the game, not the player to have the first assist of the game.

3.2.2 If there is no assist for the 1st goal, 'First Goal Unassisted' will be deemed the winner. Bets will not roll onto the player who assists the 2nd Goal.

3.2.3 In matches ending 0:0, 'No Goal' will be deemed the winner.

4. MATCH GOALS

4.1. Total Goals - Odd or Even

A bet on whether the total number of goals scored in a match will add up to an odd or even number.  For example, a 2-1 result equates to 3 goals and therefore a bet on odd is a winner.   For the purpose of settling a 0-0 result is considered to be an even number.  90 minute play rule applies unless otherwise specified.

4.2. Correct Scores

4.6. Second Half Goals

A bet on the total number of goals scored in the second half of the game.  For example, if the full-time score is 3-2 but the half-time score was 2-1. The second half goals will be 2.  Bets will be void if the match is abandoned before full-time.

4.7. Team Goals

Predict the number of goals scored by named team during a specified match.  90 minutes play only, extra time and penalties do not count.  Team goals are determined by the official full-time results.

4.12. Team to Score Last

A bet on which team will score the last goal in the match.  If the match result is 1-0 then the team scoring the only goal will be deemed to have scored the first and last goal in the match.  Own goals count to the side credited with the goal.  Normal 90 minute betting rules apply.  If the game is abandoned before full time, bets are void unless a definitive result has already been determined.

4.13. First Team Scorer

Who will be the first player to score a goal for his team in the match? Scorer does not have to be the first scorer in the match, but the first scorer for his team. Own goals do qualify in this market.  Normal 90 minute rules apply.

5. CORNERS

5.1. Total Corners / Total Team Corners

5.1.1. Corners awarded but not taken do not count.
5.1.2. If a corner has to be re-taken (e.g. for a foul in the box), only one corner will be counted.
5.1.3. If a match is abandoned before 90 minutes play then all bets will be declared void, unless a definitive result has already been determined prior to abandonment.   For example, if you bet that there will be more than 12 corners and at abandonment time, 15 corners have been taken, your prediction would have been correct and winnings will be paid out.

5.2. First Half Corners, including In-Play

If the game is abandoned before the first half has been completed bets will be void unless settlement of bets is already determined.   Corners awarded but not taken do not count.  If a corner has to be re-taken (e.g. for a foul in the box), only one corner will be counted.

5.3. Multi Corners

Number of corners taken in the first-half multiplied by the number of corners taken in the second half, for example, if five corners are taken in the first half and four corners are taken in the second half, the winning result would be 20.
5.3.1. Any corners awarded but not taken will not be included in the total.
5.3.2. In the event of a match being abandoned bets will be made void unless the settlement of bets is already determined.
5.3.3. If a corner has to be re-taken, only one corner will be counted towards the total.

5.4. 2 way corners in play

5.5. Most Corners in play

Settled on the team who receives the most corners in the match, in the event of abandonment then all bets are void. Corners awarded but not taken do not count.  If a corner has to be re-taken (e.g. for a foul in the box), only one corner will be counted.

5.6. Extra-time corners in-play

8. ASIAN HANDICAPS

8.1.1
This is a market where a handicap is applied to the match in order to make the prices closer to even money.

8.1.2. The match favourite will be allocated a negative handicap represented with a (-) symbol and will have to win by more goals than the handicap in order to be a winner. The match outsider will be allocated a positive handicap which will be added to the final score. The handicap will be added to one side only. Half-time Asian handicap markets will be settled on the half-time result.

8.1.3. There are three types of Asian handicap:

(A) Whole ball handicap (e.g. (0), (-1), (-2))
The handicap is applied to the final result of the match and the team with the most goals after the handicap has been applied will be the winner.  If the number of goals for each team is level after the handicap has been applied, it will result in a push with the stake being returned.
For example: Spain (-2), Paraguay (+2).  If Spain wins by three or more goals then all bets on Spain will be winners and bets on Paraguay will be losers
If Spain win by exactly two goals then all bets on the market will be pushed and the bet stake returned on both sides
If Spain win by exactly one goal, the match ends in a draw or Paraguay win the match then all bets on Paraguay will be winners and bets on Paraguay will be losers.
The handicap (0) is the equivalent of the draw no bet market. If Spain wins the game then all bets on Spain will be winners and all bets on Paraguay will be losers. If Paraguay wins the game then all bets on Paraguay will be winners and all bets on Spain will be losers. If the match is drawn all stakes will be returned to the customer.

(B) Half ball handicaps (e.g. (-0.5), (-1.5), (-2.5))
The handicap is applied to the final result of the match and the team with the most goals after the handicap has been applied will be the winner.
For example: Liverpool (-1.5), Arsenal (+1.5).  If Liverpool win by two or more goals then all bets on Liverpool will be winners and bets on Arsenal will be losers.
If Liverpool win by exactly one goal, the match ends in a draw or Arsenal win the match then all bets on Arsenal will be winners and bets on Liverpool will be losers.

(C) Split ball handicaps (e.g. (-0, -0.5), (-0.5, -1), (-1, -1.5))
A split ball handicap is where the level of favouritism is between a half ball and a whole ball. In this case, your stake is being split equally between the whole ball and half ball handicaps.
For example: England (-1, -1.5), Germany (1, 1.5).  If you place a £100 bet on England (-1, -1.5) then your bet is split into two £50 bets. The first bet is on the Whole Ball Handicap (England (-1)) and the second bet is on the Half Ball Handicap (England (-1.5))
If England win by two or more goals then all bets on England will be winners and bets on Germany will be losers.
If England win by exactly one goal then the stake on England (-1) will be refunded and the stake on England (-1.5) will be a loser. The stake on Germany (1) will be refunded and the stake on Germany (1.5) will be a winner.
If the match ends in a draw or Germany win the match then all bets on Germany will be winners and bets on England will be losers.

8.2. In-Running Asian Handicaps

All bets on the Asian Handicap in-running market are settled according to the scoreline for the remainder of the game after the bet has been struck. For example, any goals prior to the bet being placed are ignored for settlement purposes.  Asian Handicaps will only apply for 90 minutes match betting.

9.  To Win Both Halves

Both halves of a 90 minute football match is treated as a separate game.  In order for this bet to be a winner your selection must score more goals than their opponents in each half.

10. First Player to be Substituted
First substitution: Bets on a player will be void if he doesn't start. In the case of a double substitution, or any other scenario whereby two players are replaced during the same break in play, dead heat rules will be applied.

11. CARD MARKETS

First/Anytime/Total Cards, Time of Booking/Both To Be Carded/To Score & Be Carded/To Be Sent Off

11.1 Every effort will be made to quote prices for all participants, however other players will count as winners should they be carded, first or anytime during the first or second half of the match including injury time but excluding extra time.  Please note any player who remains on the bench will not count.

11.2 Bets on players taking no part in the match will be void, as will first card bets where the selection comes on after the first card has been awarded; if the selection plays for any length of time but is substituted before the first card is awarded, the bet stands.

11.3 All players who take part in a match for any length of time, will be considered runners for anytime card purposes;

11.4 In the event of a dispute over the award of a card for first or anytime, for settlement purposes, the decision of the Official Competition Websites will be final.

11.5 Any card shown after the full-time whistle has been blown shall be disregarded. If after the final whistle a card shown during a game is rescinded, or reduced to a yellow card from a red card, that will not affect the settlement of any markets

11.6 Any subsequent corrections or amendments to the result by official bodies will not be considered for settlement purposes.

11.7 For markets involving the time of yellow and red cards, these markets will be settled by reference to the time at which the relevant card is shown.

11.8 A player receiving a red card as a consequence of receiving a second yellow card will in all cases be deemed to have been shown one yellow card and one red card.

11.9 Both To Be Carded

If either player does not take part in the game then bets will be voided.

12. A MINUTE TO WIN IT

These markets offer you the chance to bet on specified events occurring in a match within the stated minute (the stated minute being the minute displayed on the Minute to Win It coupon from time to time). In order to win, you must correctly select whether there will be Goal, Corner, Throw In, Free Kick or Goal Kick within the stated minute. For settlement purposes a penalty does not count as a free kick.

Our live in-play scoreboard clock is not used for settlement purposes, it is provided to you only for guidance and may vary from all or any official clocks or other clocks provided, displayed, offered or in any way communicated by broadcasters, data providers and other parties.
Settlement in all cases will use the time of the event supplied to us by our data provider (such data provider to be selected by us at our absolute discretion from time to time).
Event data and times are displayed within the text commentary section of our in-play scoreboard.

12.1 Timeframe

Minute one is the period between 0:00 and 0:59 seconds, minute 2 is 1:00 to 1:59, minute 3 is 2:00 and 2:59 and so on up to and including 89:00 to 89:59 at which point the market is concluded.

Event data and times are displayed within the text commentary section of our in-play scoreboard.

12.2 Additional Time (Injury Time) & Extra Time

Minute to Win it will not be offered after 44:59 in the first half and 89:59 in the second half unless the format of a match allows Extra Time to be played. Then Minute To Win may be offered at Betvictor’s sole discretion and where offered it will be done so on the basis of two halves of 15 minutes each. It will not be offered on any injury time minutes within an Extra Time period. In all cases, the settlement rules within Extra Time are identical to those in normal time.

12.3 Occurrence and Awarding Rules

For the purposes of this market, the time of a Goal is when it occurs as reported by our data provider. Corners, free-kicks, throw-ins and Goal Kicks are considered to have happened when they are awarded by the Referee as reported by our data provider. A Penalty is considered to be a free kick and will be resulted as such. A Corner is a particular type of free kick and as such will only cause the Corner selection to be settled as a winner, not the Free Kick.  An Own Goal will be counted as a Goal in the Minute to Win it market. A Goal Kick is awarded when the whole of the ball has crossed the entire width of the goal line, is not counted as a goal and was last touched by a member of the attacking team and is timed according to when it was indicated by the referee and/or assistant referees. A Goal Kick restarts the match immediately after the ball has gone out of play. A kick out from the hands of the goalkeeper is not a goal-kick.

12.4 Interruptions

The Minute to Win It clock will continue to run regardless of any interruptions in play including but not limited to stoppages for injury or other interruptions to play.  Minute Markets are Singles Only. Minute to Win It bets cannot be included as part of an accumulator or other multiple.

14. #PriceItUp (Match Markets)

14.1 All bets relate to the 90 min market, unless otherwise stated explicitly in the bet description EG: ‘’to score in the first half’’.

14.2 ‘’90 Mins’’ 90 mins refers to the first 90 minutes of the match (including any injury time) but not extra time or penalty shootouts

14.3 ‘’1st Half’’ – 1st half refers to the first 45 minutes of the match (including any injury time) only.

14.4 ‘’2nd Half’’ – 2nd half refers to the second 45 minutes of the match (including any injury time) only

14.5 ‘’Each Half’’ – Each half refers to halves 1 & 2 (including any injury time)

14.6 ‘’Either Half’’ – Either half refers to either half 1 or 2

14.7 Extra time and Penalties will only count where explicitly stated or where implied by phrases such as 'To Qualify', 'Lift The Trophy' 'Win The Tie' being used within the market description. For all bets containing such phrases, any remaining selections in the bet will be settled on the 90 min result unless stated otherwise.

14.8 Minute 1 is defined as 0.00-0.59 and this format extends to all minutes in a match. For example, if a bet description involves a player ‘to score in the first 15 minutes’ the cut off time would be 14.59 on the match clock.

14.9 If any part of the bet is made void, then the whole bet becomes void.

14.10 In the case of goals that are disputed, we will use Betvictor’s data provider to settle the market.

14.11 Where it is not possible to resolve a query by referencing Betvictor’s data provider, we will use the aggregate result supplied by the following websites: www.bbc.co.uk, www.soccerbase.com, www.soccerway.com, www.soccernet.com, www.flashscore.com

14.12 Own goals do not count in any bet involving goalscorers/player goals (unless otherwise explicitly stated).

14.13 Any bets involving ‘’free-kick’’ goals must be scored directly from a free-kick. Penalties and corners do not count.

14.14 For bets involving assists, the following rule will be applied: “An Assist is defined as the final pass or pass-cum-shot leading to the recipient of the ball scoring a goal. It also includes the following actions: Penalty won; Attempt saved; Shot hit woodwork, rebound scored; Instigating an own goal through a shot/pass.”

14.15 Any bets involving players to be carded; only cards awarded once the player is active in the match will count. Any cards shown after the final whistle do not count.

14.16 If a player receives 2 yellow cards and is consequently shown a red card, the player will be deemed as having received a total of 2 cards. No individual player will be able to receive a total number of cards exceeding 2 in any one game. Extra-time does not count nor do cards shown after the final whistle count towards the total. A straight red card is counted as one card in every circumstance.

14.17 When more than one player is involved in an incident that results in one or more cards being shown we will result based on TV evidence as to who the referee has shown the first card to.

14.18 Only cards shown to players currently on the pitch will count. Cards shown to managers or substitutes do not count towards the total.

14.19 Any bets involving corners; only corners that are actually taken will count.

14.20 If a corner is re-taken, it will only count as one corner.

14.21 We reserve the right to cancel any bets placed at a price that is clearly wrong.

14.22 We reserve the right to cancel any bets placed on that selection where the wording of the bet description is wrong.

14.23 For any eventualities not covered by these rules, BetVictor’s standard betting rules will apply.

14.24 BetVictor’s decision regarding settlement of all Price It Up markets shall be final and binding.

14.25 For any bets involving players hitting the woodwork, the following rule will be applied: If the ball hits any part of the woodwork this part of the bet will be deemed a winner. Any dubious shots will be settled using information from data provider.

14.26 Any Bets requiring 2 teams to score in each half or to score 2+ or 3+ goals require each named team to score 2+, 3+ in each half as appropriate.

14.27 If any named player in any bet does not take part in the match the bet will be made void.

14.28 In the case of any bet with multiple named players, but any one or more named players take no part in the match the bet will be made void.

14.29 Max payout per customer on a single day is £100k or local equivalent. For customers betting in Euros the currency equivalent of £100 is €100. All other currencies will be calculated at the current exchange rates.

14.30 For the avoidance of all doubt and by way of explanation, any outcome that requires ‘Both Teams’ to complete a certain action (EG: ‘Both Teams Over 1.5 Cards) requires both teams each to be shown at least 2 cards in the match, rather than for the combined total of the cards that the teams were shown to be greater than 2.
